October 27, 2009
South Holland, Illinois (October 21, 2009) — The city of South Holland has long been distinguished as a community of churches. The First Baptist Church of South Holland will be adding
to the church community, as it has just finished the first phase of its renovation and will be having its ribbon-cutting ceremony with the general public on Sunday, November 8, at
1 p.m.
The new site of the church has its historic roots in the foundation of South Holland. It is placed on the original homestead of the infamous "Widow Paarlburg," which is one
of the original farm families of the mid 1800s. It also is adjoined to the Paarlburg Park.
First Baptist Church, after meeting in a 1,800-square-foot tent all summer, has finished
the first phase of their development project by retrofitting a former storage building into a 150-seat auditorium, as well as new nursery facilities, bathrooms, and fellowship hall.
During the 11:00 a.m. service the church will be honoring the village officials, the Hammond Rescue Mission, and Reformers Unanimous Home, as well as volunteers who came from as
far as Atlanta, Georgia, to help in this reconstruction project.
For all media outlets there will be a photo opportunity with the church's pastor and also village officials at 1 p.m. A complimentary dinner will also be provided, as the community
is invited to celebrate with the accomplishments of this new church.
